Wild Irish was recorded through 1996 and the beginning of 97 at my home studios (24trk analogue and 24 digital): I used to regard having a home studio as my dream situation: it is, but its a bit of a double edged thing. You don't watch the clock, and because of that you never ever finish: "oh come on, lets do just one more take". Chris Jones, who played drums on it, swears that we recorded some of the drum tracks in 1995: drummers! They manage to play sixteen bars straight without speeding up, and then they think they know it all! Still, I could be wrong.....he might be right......maybe it was that long.......it still doesn't sound like Pink Floyd.

Why Wild Irish? Well, obviously because being from Dublin, I'm Irish. That helps. Yes. And Boring Irish didn't seem to have quite the same impact.
About the songs (click the title for lyrics):
Rat is a hate song for two acquiantances of mine. Hi guys!
Ghost Walking I wrote with a singer mate of mine called Pete Taylor: great singer. I hope to do some tracks with him at some point. I like this
Follow The Leader is important to me: its in memory of Vincent Crane and Paul Hammond of Atomic Rooster, who both died some years ago, and with whom I did two of the most enjoyable tours of my life. Its funny to be the only person still here now who was there then.
Bad Blood yes. And bad guts too. Must've been the fish lips
Howling at the Moon the bit about the eight miles high is true. dork. What was he on.
River I like this track. Don't ask me what its about: Liffey? Life? Another pint of guinness flowing away? This track also turns up on Quatermass II's album Long Road out on RPM in Europe and Pony Canyon Japan. They don't know what its about either.
Walk Don't Run apologies to pearly
Lonesome Train I like this: american trains sound best, don't you think: much better than the 8.45 from Paddington..
One More Heartache one less earache.
Yesterday & Nowhere eat your heart out, Neil Young. No? Oh well, maybe not.
Guitars:Bernie Tormé
